A individual charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a recorded message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has persistently declared she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told communication data and information recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most publicized investigations and continues to be unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One phone message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am Madeleine? Then what? Is that not important for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a existence here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the recording stated.

The jury was advised that through emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a bid to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who compiled the information, told the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, the father responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court was informed the co-defendant developed a association online with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in December 2024.

Phone records demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be taken seriously in the months before the visit to Rothley, that area, in that winter.

The court was told message exchanges between the two accused, in November 2024, planning endeavoring to acquire Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her trash or from utensils at a dining venue.
