Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured England's top flight last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I won't manage a different club within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to bring him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often a very good mood at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last term. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of the Portuguese star, a player he signed during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his on-field talent, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. Not a single person might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
