The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Gets a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network launched a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Network Praise

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family navigate their daily lives.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially catalyze that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to bask in the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
