The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Wrong Critical Role Track

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by producer and singer the talented musician. This piece from the official score of that title, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the hype and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, Critical Role has stated that the animated show will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
