The President Calls Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Devastating Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the crowd at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
